Paper, light soil and wear, previous owner name on front panel, article title outlined in ink, otherwise internally clean, tight and very good. This issue also includes articles on Angkor by Richard Melville, The Modern Japanese Novel by Carl Schmidt, Themes and Schisms in Burmese Communist Literature by John Badgley, and a letter to the editor clarifying Indonesia's name. Dr. Louis Dupree (1925-1989) spent most of the period from about 1958 to the end of his life as a representative of the American Universities Field Service in Kabul and was generally considered one of the most knowledgeable Western scholars on Afghanistan. His book, Afghanistan (Princeton University Press, 1973) is considered a standard reference.
